New CEO, new perspectives: Civic welcomes David D’Annunzio

Civic Credit Union welcomes its new President and Chief Executive Officer, David D’Annunzio, an industry veteran committed to the credit union’s founding purpose: Serving those who serve our state.

D’Annunzio joined Civic in 2024 and served as Chief Financial Officer before assuming the role of CEO in mid-January. He succeeds retiring CEO Dwayne Naylor.

“Our members dedicate their careers to strengthening North Carolina communities, and their trust is our greatest asset,” D’Annunzio says. “We’re here to support them with responsible lending, accessible savings options, and financial guidance that helps them build secure futures.”

The credit union’s dedication to serving members will never change, D’Annunzio says, and as CEO he is called to ensure the delivery of its services continues to evolve, making it easier for members to manage their financial lives.

“Our priorities are centered on enhancing member value,” he says. “This includes strengthening our product offerings and improving service accessibility through enhanced digital tools and streamlined processes.”

Dr. Aaron Noble, Chair of the Civic Board of Directors, says, “For 43 years and counting, we exist to provide financial services that move our members’ lives and communities forward, to achieve personal prosperity. Dave brings decades of strategic financial leadership to Civic, and the Board is confident he will guide us well in building on our mission, to provide members with the products and digital technology they can and should expect from a modern financial institution.”

D’Annunzio is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Business Appraiser, and CUNA Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert. He previously served in leadership roles at federal credit unions in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., and is a graduate of the University of Richmond Robins School of Business.
