Courtesy Pay Basic

Courtesy Pay Basic is an overdraft service that comes with direct deposit and eligible checking accounts as a benefit for qualified members. If you're opted in, there's no cost to you, unless it's activated to cover account shortages.

What’s the difference between Courtesy Pay Basic and Courtesy Pay PLUS?

Courtesy Pay PLUS covers more transaction types, such such as ATM transactions and every day debit card transactions. Courtesy Pay Basic covers share drafts/checks and other transactions made using your checking account, automatic bill payments, and ACH transactions.

Is there a fee to opt in to Courtesy Pay?

While there is no fee to opt in to either Courtesy Pay Basic or Courtesy Pay Plus, there will be a $19 fee for each overdraft occurrence. 

How do I sign up for Courtesy Pay PLUS?

You can opt in to Courtesy Pay PLUS through online banking or in the Civic app. Or, if you prefer, call the Experience Center at 844-772-4842, or visit a Civic branch.

How do I opt out of Courtesy Pay Basic or PLUS?

Members who wish to opt out of Courtesy Pay may contact us at 844-772-4842, visit a Civic branch, or send a secure message. There's no charge to remain an eligible user of Courtesy Pay Basic unless it's used to cover an account shortage.

What happens if I can’t pay the amount covered by the Courtesy Pay program?

1 Courtesy Pay is available to members in good standing with active direct deposit, an eligible Civic checking account, and at least 90 days of membership. To be in good standing you must not have any bankruptcies or charge-offs of Civic loans or deposit accounts within the past three years, and all accounts must be current. We may pay overdrafts through the Courtesy Pay program at our discretion if you do not have enough money available in your account to cover a transaction. We will charge a $19 fee each time an overdraft occurs. Please refer to the Membership and Account Agreement for a more through explanation of factors that determine when an overdraft occurs, coverage limits, and when you may incur a fee for overdrawing your account. Refer to the Fee Schedule for other fees that may apply or visit civicfcu.org/fees. Courtesy Pay may be added to one account per member. Civic account holders who are 18 years of age or older with consumer checking accounts are eligible.
