Bio

Chris Madsen is Chief Lending Officer at Civic, with over 35 years of experience in the banking industry. In this role, he provides leadership and strategic guidance for the credit union’s consumer and member business lending programs, to ensure the credit union develops, supports, and efficiently delivers an array of loan products and services to members. 

Madsen has built core lending systems and created central underwriting at Civic, leads in the implementation of its lending objectives and policies, and generates strategies to grow loan portfolios through pricing, expansion of products, and market analysis. He also ensures loans are underwritten with a focus on safety and sound guidelines. 

Madsen entered the financial services industry while still in college, working as a bank teller to help pay his way through college. Post-college, his career has included roles as a personal banker and business/commercial lender; managerial roles in portfolio management, private banking underwriting, and remediation underwriting; and credit administration to establish credit policy, guidelines, and procedures. He holds a degree in psychology from East Carolina University. 

Outside of work, Madsen enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, working out, and running in competitive races.
