RALEIGH, N.C – Earlier today, Civic Credit Union (Civic) announced a statewide partnership with The Salvation Army to support its annual Winter Coat Drive, calling on North Carolinians to help keep families warm this winter.

From November 17 through December 19, Civic members, along with those in the community, can drop off new or gently used coats at any of Civic’s 11 branch locations. Donations of all sizes are needed, with a particular demand for children’s coats as families prepare for the colder months ahead.

This year’s need is especially urgent. Western North Carolina has already seen evening temperatures fall below freezing, while Raleigh-area shelters have already declared White Flag nights - early indicators of the strain cold weather places on members of the community. With branches serving those across the state, Civic is encouraging residents in every region to join the effort and help ensure families have the warmth they need this winter.

To help further raise awareness and support, Civic will host a special “Coats for Coffee & Cocoa” event at all branch locations on Friday, December 5, from 9 am to 12 pm. Community members who stop by to donate a coat will receive complimentary coffee or hot cocoa and can learn more about how their contributions will go on to support local Salvation Army chapters.

All coats collected through Civic’s branches will be distributed by local Salvation Army chapters to individuals and families in need within their communities.
