It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Al Richardson, Director Emeritus for the Board of Directors. Mr. Richardson was a dedicated local government leader and had served on the Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) Board of Directors beginning in 1993. He served as Chairman during the 2000-2002 term.

Mr. Richardson hailed from the Town of Black Mountain where he served as Town Manager. He was devoted to local government and had a long history of working in North Carolina towns, most notably as the Interim Town Manager for the towns of Montreat, Fletcher and Mills River.

He was a charter member of LGFCU and volunteered his time with the NCFCU Board of Directors, Black Mountain ABC Board, his local chapter of the North Carolina Jaycees, Black Mountain Volunteer Firefighters Association, and the United Way of Asheville. 

We extend heartfelt sympathy to the Richardson family and all who worked alongside Mr. Richardson in the effort to better our communities.
