Civic Credit Union Partners with Local Triangle Non-Profit to Celebrate International Credit Union Day
RALEIGH, N.C. – Civic Credit Union (Civic) is proud to join credit unions around the world in celebrating International Credit Union Day on Thursday, October 16. To commemorate this year’s celebration, Civic is joining forces with No Woman, No Girl, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and girls in crisis, by hosting a hygiene kit drive.
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has celebrated the impact, innovation and shared values that unite credit unions worldwide. This year’s theme centers on connection, and reflects on how these cooperatives, their members and their partners work together to create lasting change in the communities they serve.
At Civic, the day serves as both a celebration and reaffirmation of the organization’s purpose-driven mission to serve local government employees and their families across North Carolina. Civic’s collaboration with No Woman, No Girl embodies their spirit of collective impact, demonstrating how meaningful partnerships can make tangible differences in North Carolina communities.
“At Civic, our mission is driven by people helping people,” said Dwayne Naylor, President and CEO of Civic Credit Union. “Partnering with a local organization that uplifts women and families is a natural extension of our commitment to connection and service. As we continue to grow, with purpose, we remain focused on empowering members through access, innovation and education.”
Civic’s celebration includes a series of events and activities designed to engage members, connect staff and give back to the community:
- Branch Celebrations Across North Carolina for Civic Members – Members are invited to join the festivities at Civic’s 11 branch locations statewide. Each location will feature educational materials highlighting the power of credit unions, fun activities for young members, and special treats to celebrate the occasion.
- Global Impact Dialogue for Civic Employees – Civic staff will participate in exclusive learning sessions featuring the Executive Director of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA). These sessions will offer a global perspective on the impact of financial cooperatives and inspire reflection on how Civic’s work connects to the worldwide credit union movement.
- Hygiene Kit Drive in Partnership with No Woman, No Girl – Civic employees will assemble hygiene kits for women and girls in crisis, supporting No Woman, No Girl, a local nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and meeting essential needs in the community.
Through these efforts, Civic continues to honor the cooperative principles that have guided credit unions for generations – building stronger communities through connection, compassion and collaborative action.
“Civic’s legacy is rooted in community — in showing up for our members, our coworkers, and the people we serve,” said Ashley Ruffin, Chief Impact Officer of Civic Credit Union. “This celebration embodies this commitment.”
Following its transition to independence this summer, Civic continues building on a strong foundation by growing with intention and remaining steadfast to its mission to serve North Carolina’s local government public servants.
