RALEIGH, N.C. – Civic Foundation, the charitable arm of Civic Credit Union, welcomed public servants, community partners, scholarship recipients, and nonprofit leaders from across North Carolina to their annual Inspiration Celebration on Thursday, November 20. The event honored individuals and organizations whose work strengthens communities and supports the people who serve them.

The Inspiration Celebration recognizes and supports North Carolina’s local government employees and their families through scholarships, grants, and community partnerships. As Civic Foundation’s signature annual event honoring the work of the Foundation, it brings together partners whose missions align with Civic’s focus on expanding opportunity and improving quality of life in communities across the state.

“Tonight we honor and appreciate our collaborative partners who are allies in strengthening North Carolina communities,” said Jaz Kilpatrick, Executive Director of the Civic Foundation. “These groups are pillars of support for the public servants who shape our cities, towns, and counties every single day.”

This year’s event placed a special spotlight on Y Me Mobility Assistance, Inc., named the Civic Foundation’s 2025 Grant Recipient of the Year. Founded in 2023, the Mecklenburg County–based nonprofit provides adaptive vehicle modifications, mobility solutions, and support services to individuals with disabilities and their families. Y Me was created to fill a critical gap for families facing limited coverage options and significant out-of-pocket costs for accessible transportation.

“The work of Y Me Mobility Assistance represents exactly why the Foundation exists,” said Kilpatrick. “They meet families where they are, listen to their needs, and deliver mobility solutions that directly improve independence, safety, and access. Their impact is immediate and deeply meaningful for the families they serve.”

In September, the Civic Foundation awarded Y Me a community grant to support vehicle adaptations, outreach, and installation services for at least 15 North Carolina households over the next year. The organization was selected from a competitive pool of 22 applicants for its mission-driven approach, community focus, and measurable impact.

“Accessible transportation is more than a service, it’s a lifeline,” Kilpatrick added. “We are proud to support an organization that is removing barriers and helping families thrive.”

The Inspiration Celebration also recognized scholarship recipients and partner nonprofits across the state whose work expands opportunities in health care, housing, human services, and education. Together, these organizations reflect the Foundation’s broader commitment to strengthening communities and supporting the people who live, work, and serve in them.
