Civic Foundation Awards $25,000 Grant to Eden Village of Wilmington

September 26, 2025

RALEIGH, N.C. - Civic Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to Eden Village of Wilmington, a nonprofit providing permanent supportive housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness and living with disabilities. This award is part of the Civic Foundation’s quarterly investment of $75,000 in emerging nonprofits that address critical housing and human service needs across North Carolina. In total, the Foundation provides $300,000 annually to 12 organizations, extending resources and support to nonprofits working every day to strengthen communities statewide.

“What makes these grantees so special is the heart behind their work—the intentional way they show up, meet people where they are, and make life a little easier for those who need it most,” said Jaz Kilpatrick, Executive Director of Civic Foundation. “I’m truly thrilled that Civic Foundation can come alongside Eden Village of Wilmington, and I look forward to the difference we’ll continue to make together for the good of the communities they serve in southeastern North Carolina.”

Founded in 2020, Eden Village of Wilmington serves New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender counties through its 31-unit tiny home community. With Civic Foundation’s support, the organization will stock its community store with essential supplies for a full year. Residents volunteer within the community and earn points for their service, redeemable at the store.

This grant is one of three awards provided by Civic Foundation during its third-quarter funding cycle.

Bike Box Project – Since 2018, Bike Box Project has supported people with Parkinson’s disease and their families in Craven County and the surrounding areas through movement-based programs. Its core initiative, Rock Steady Boxing, is a high-intensity, non-contact fitness class proven to slow Parkinson’s symptoms. Funding will update essential equipment, provide financial assistance for participants, and implement the Parkinson’s Assessment and Reporting System (PARS) to track program impact.

Y ME Mobility Assistance – Established in 2023, Y ME Mobility Assistance serves Mecklenburg County by supporting families raising children with disabilities and veterans facing mobility challenges. The organization provides grants and subsidies for vehicle adaptations—including wheelchair lifts, hand controls, and ramp installations—helping individuals gain greater independence, safety, and freedom. Grant funding will provide vehicle modification grants to at least 15 households over the next year, as well as support outreach efforts, educational materials, and installation services.

Additionally, Y ME Mobility Assistance is also recognized as Civic Foundation’s 2025 Grant Recipient of the Year!
