Civic was created to serve the hard-working people who keep the cities, towns and villages of North Carolina moving forward. We are honored to serve you, your families and your businesses. Here’s a breakdown of who’s eligible for membership:

  • Current and retired employees of local government agencies (contract, part-time, seasonal and full-time employees are included)
  • Businesses owned by local government workers, or who primarily service local government agencies
  • Local government elected officials
  • Volunteers for local government units

And, the opportunity of Civic membership extends to all the people you call family: spouses, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, stepparents, stepchildren, step siblings and adopted children; they’re are all eligible to become members.

Before you move forward, have the following information on-hand to make your application quick and easy:

What Membership with Civic Means

Civic Federal Credit Union is owned and governed by its members. Your individual or business ownership in Civic is represented by your Civic Savings Account. This account is the foundation of our partnership together and represents your ownership stake in the credit union.

Volunteers - They Help Those Who Do Good, Do More


In addition to volunteering with local government agencies, you can also volunteer for Civic. During the membership process, you’ll be asked to complete a short questionnaire that helps us get better at meeting your needs. And, from time to time – we’ll send you surveys to check on the progress of our improvement or to get your opinion on things. If you’re not a local government employee or related to a person working in that space, this is a great option for you or your business.
